Details: | SUMMARY: Four out of five + total coliform routine samples for November. DETAILS: I called Judy on 12/7/05 to discuss the alert I received showing four out of the five routine samples she collected 11/29-30 were + for total coliform. Judy stated that she had "walked the system" distribution to find any evidence of leaks. She did not find any obvious leaks. She did not shock chlorinate the system prior to collecting the routine samples for Nov. At this point, I highly recommended she shock chlorinate the system and I reviewed chlorination procedures with her. I also told her that if she did not take corrective action soon and if she continues to violate the TCR, she would be required to install continuous disinfection. Judy is considering switching water sources due to legal issues she has with one of the home owners on the system. We discussed the fact that new water rights to the lake were not available (although she said Dune City is allowing people to use their water right) and that treatment of a surface source is quite expensive and requires a lot more maintenance. I also suggested she consider drilling a well. I instructed her to keep her public notice posted. She will collect five routines in December (hopefully after shock chlorinating and flushing the system). ACTION NEEDED: Await results from December. |
