Details: | SUMMARY: Elevated Turbidity from Ranney Collector #2 DETAILS: Neal Sheppeard called to report that they had experienced elevated turbidity peaking to 2.1 NTU and hovering around 2 NTU from ranney collector #2 and coinciding with high tide. The elevated turbidity lasted for about 1 hour on Saturday, Sunday and Monday and then dropped to about 0.8 when the tide went out. They increased their chlorine dose to be 0.3 mg/l at their first user. I recommended they increase their chlorine dose to 0.7 mg/l at first user whenever the turbidity increased to 1.5 or above and to notify Columbia City and DWP when they experienced elevated turbidity levels. I also recommended they more closely monitor chlorine residuals in the distribution system during these events. ACTION NEEDED: When turbity rises to 1.5 NTU or above, increase chlorine dose to 0.7 mg/l at first user, notify Columbia City and DWP, monitor chlorine residual in distribution system. Membrane filtration is expected to be on-line Mid January 2006. |
