Details: | SUMMARY: Discussed status and future plans for new WTP DETAILS: Karen Kelley and I attended a status update meeting on the planned new WTP for the City of Sweet Home being funded in part by SRF monies. In addition, the City is currently under Order to resolve non-compliance issues with their existing WTP. Jon Erwin of Erwin Consulting gave an informative PP presentation on the current plans: the raw water intake and fish screen at the Dam, the raw water transmission line through the COE park, the boring under Wiley Creek, transmission line along the existing railroad easement, the optional raw water intake pond, and finally the new US Filter Microfloc Trident HS WTP and backwash ponds. Initial plans are for (3) treatment trains of 2 MGD capacity each, with expansion space for (2) more 2 MGD trains, for a total of 10 MGD capacity overall. Discussed issues associated with poor soils in area of proposed WTP, with WTP itself being moved south to higher ground. Plans also call for buried, baffled clearwell, and potential for a raw water intake pond. Bids for Phase 1 (Raw water transmission line and Wiley Creek crossing) will be accepted soon, with an award issued asap. Work likely to start in February 2007, with Wiley Creek crossing restricted by permit to July - September. City will work closely with DWP regarding compliance with existing Order. Existing WTP still in use under previously established restrictions. DWP staff will visit WTP asap to assess status and outline any additonal operational changes as needed. ACTION NEEDED: DWP to continue to work with City on proper operation of existing WTP, and assist with requirements and guidance for new, planned WTP as well. DWP to communicate to City status of Order, and outline any further requirements. |
