Details: | SUMMARY: Elevated turbidity levels on 11/7/06 DETAILS: On 11/7/2006, certified operator, Mike Bauman reported to Dewey Darold that raw water turbidity in Drift Creek was reaching 500 NTU. The slow sand filter was producing water close to 1.0 NTU. Mike said that the plant lost power last night and it was not until today that the plant was close to a treatment technique violation. Mike said he intends to shut down the filter when NTUs exceed 1 NTU and wait to see if conditions improve in the creek. There is limited storage so the filter cannot be inoperational for more than a day or so. Dewey faxed tier 1 and 2 public notice templates to Mike in case it became necessary to issue notice. 11/13/06, I spoke with Mark Snyder. The highest turbidity reading was 0.96 NTU. Therefore, public notice is not required. As of 11/13, turbidity readings are back in normal operating range. ACTION NEEDED: None. |
