Details: | SUMMARY: Use of West well DETAILS: Shawn asked me if it would be possible to pump water from the West well (nedonna beach) directly into the distribution rather than going up to the treatment plant. This would be for peak demand times. The reason is because the plant peak flow is 700 gpm, and West well can pump 120 gpm. If they can use the West well separately, that could be a total of 820 gpm going into the system rather than just 700 gpm. They are in a pinch for water during peak times and are exploring any and all options. I asked him about raw water coliform sampling, which they have been doing about quarterly and have not have any positives that he can remember. I told him we would need to review that data, as well as plans for disinfection of the well (residual maintenance). They would also have to do a full round of chemical sampling, since the other data they have is mixed with creek water. Both the East and West wells are 50 feet deep into a sand and gravel aquifer. There does not appear to be any surface water nearby. As far as I can tell, we have never required that they run the well water through the WTP, so if they want to pump directly to the distribution, as long as they meet the monitoring and residual maintenance criteria, that is acceptable. ACTION NEEDED: Shawn will keep me posted as to their plans. |
