Details: | SUMMARY: Request for assistance with equipment recommendations for pH control for WTP-B. DETAILS: The Wickiup Water District owns and operates 2 water treatment plants to treat surface water that supply water to approximately 620 connections with a population of approximately 1,702 people. WTP-A is a slow sand filter plant rated for 100 gpm. WTP-B is a package treatment plant with coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, and rapid sand filtration rated for 150 gpm. The plant was designed for 175 gpm, however, the maximum output is 150 gpm due to the poor water quality produced at 175 gpm. Both plants have post hypochlorination. Assistance request from Daryl Gardner, operator. The district has recently failed a lead/copper test. The district requested assistance with equipment recommendations at WTP-B for pH adjustment for corrosion control. Spoke with operator about failed lead/copper test and about assistance that was needed. Operator mentioned he would like to use the existing potassium permanganate tank and feed pump (which is no longer used) if possible for the equipment for chemical additional pH control. Looked at existing tank and feed pump. Have begun research on the need for corrosion control due to the failed lead/copper test and the proper chemical addition and equipment that may be needed at WTP-B. ACTION NEEDED: Complete research and submit report with recommendations to district. |
