Details: | SUMMARY: Assistance related to 06 sanitary survey recommendations DETAILS: Met at plant Pat Burris and Ray Doan. Assoc. operates small conventional plant approx. 50 gpm consisting of pre-chlorination, ISO PAC injection, static mixing, coagulation, flocculation, partial sedimentation, pressure sand filtration, and post chlorination with soda ash for pH stabilization. Turbidity monitored with HACH 1720C on line instrument. Readings from circular chart used for reporting. On line readings verified by operator during rounds using HACH bench top turbidimeter. HACH technician performs maintenance on equipment. Unclear when and what was performed by HACH representative. Primary and secondary standards were on site for the bench top analyzer. Calibration cylinder was located for 1720C on line analyzer. Calibration of both instruments is relatively easy and should be done by operator on a routine basis. Ray indicated calibration record would be set up for both instruments as well as the purchase of 4000NTU standard solution for 1720C. Plant typically run unattended. On line instrumentation currently not equipped to shut down process in event of a process excursion. Plant not equipped with alarms to notify operator of problems with process. These deficiencies noted in survey and will be addressed with standard operating procedures ASAP. Assoc. resident who operates plant most often was unable to attend initial site visit. Ray will notify Circuit Rider Program when NTU Standards become available at which time meeting and training session will be scheduled to include Cindy. Standardization of equipment will provide operator with accurate information to make needed process changes to optimize plant performance. ACTION NEEDED: Continual communication with assoc. members and operators to resolve deficiencies noted by the June 2006 sanitary survey. |
