Details: | SUMMARY: initial sampling for new well #1 DETAILS: Micah called me after talking to Joseph Auth and receiving a letter informing him that one round of monitoring is required on the well before it can be put into use. Micah had been under the impression that we could use the results from another well that is in the same aquifer in lieu of initial monitoring. Joseph, Dennis, and I had talked earlier that afternoon to confirm that we still need at least one sample from the actual well, but if there are no detects in that round, we can waive the quarterly sampling since we have data from the older well. I stated this again to Micah. He was a little upset, because he could have done the sampling months ago but didnt think he needed to. He will collect the samples ASAP, but said they might take 6 to 8 weeks for analysis. Their contract with buying water from St Helens runs out in July, so they were really wanting to use the well water before that. They were thinking of this as a "temporary" well, but I explained that that doesnt matter for plan review, we either approve it or we dont (we dont have a special, less stringent process for temporary facilities). He was ok with my explanations but just upset that he didnt know sooner. I told him that he should give us a call if the St Helens contract is ending and they still havent received the results back from the lab, and I would see if theres anything we could do. Hell keep us posted and get us the results as soon as possible. ACTION NEEDED: await results (should be sent to Joe A NOT data entry), issue final approval, then city can use the well. |
