Details: | SUMMARY: Request for assistance w. positive coliform, CC authority, and selecting chlorination system DETAILS: MT VU Mobile Park is a small groundwater system serving approximately 36 connections. They have several incidents of having positive routine coliform samples. They were requesting some advice on how to avoid these incidents as well as advice on adding a chlorination system. They lacked a cross connection enabling authority and also had some questions about preparing their CCR. After discussing the problem with Janet English by phone on March 22nd, I researched their system data and spoke to the lab that the system uses to clarify some of their lab results. In the interim the system selected a vendor to install a chlorination and filter system. I prepared a sample cross connection enabling authority and CCR certification form. On 3/29/07 I visited the site in Klamath Falls. Investigation revealed that almost every positive coliform sample was proceeded by a water line break and repair. I advised system staff on proper disinfection of lines after repairs. The new chlorination system should help alleviate this problem also. I shared a sample cross connection enabling authority and answered some questions about preparing their CCR. ACTION NEEDED: I advised MT VU staff that they need to inform the Health Department of their chlorination system change. The system is also in the process of being sold. At the request of the current owner, I will follow up with the new owners. |
