Details: | SUMMARY: TC+ response DETAILS: Dave had trouble getting hold of the county person, so he called the DWP. He got a TC+ on 6/4 and immediately drained the tank, chlorinated, and flushed. Then he collected repeat samples. The lab told him that he was supposed to collect the repeats before corrective action, so he wasnt sure what to do. I told him that he should have collected repeats right away, but since he didnt, wait til all the chlorine is gone in the system (he has a chlorine residual test kit), and collect the repeats then, but no later than the 13th of next week. He said there is a new connection to the system, and they keep having breaks in their pipe, and he thinks contamination from their system might be getting into his system. They have a 1 1/4 inch line, and the line from the well to the tank is only 3/4 inch, so this is likely. I suggested a backflow prevention device. He liked that idea and will look into it. He also said that he normally chlorinates by putting one cup of bleach into the tank once a month. I said that this is not allowed. He claims that someone from DWP or the county told him that was ok, but I dont think so. I explained that he needs to stop doing that immediately, and if he cant pass the coliform tests, then hell have to install a continuous chlorinator. ACTION NEEDED: await repeat results. |
