| Details: | SUMMARY: Follow up on study materials and schedule site visit DETAILS: The Garden Valley WA is a small system operated by Cindy and Pat with Ray Doan as the system DRC. IN a recent conversation with Cidy after visits to the system she expressed a desire to become certified and requested assistance in choosing study materials in preparation for testing. I checked with Cindy toward the end of the month to see if she had enrolled in the Cal State-Sacramento training course materials I had forwarded to her. She indicated the prices had gone up and was hoping something else might be available. I will do some research on the Drinking Water Program website for training materials plus make sure Cindy is able to attend as much of the local training events as possible. We arranged a site visit for the 5th of February to do a backwash profile and prepare a site and materials to feed a non-ionic polyment to the filters as a filter aid in an attempt to enhance the filter performance. The plant is still allowing carry-over of a great deal of floc due to the insufficient settling. The filters are not performing well. Cindy reports Pat has ordered sand that is due to be delivered soon. The visit in February will include an investigation upstream for a potential relocation of the primary coagulant site. ACTION NEEDED: Work with Cindy when requested to assist in her goal of becoming a certified operator. Continue to investigate methods to improve water quality from the Garden Valley T.P. | ||
