Details: | SUMMARY: Request from CWS for assistance with performing CT tracer study DETAILS: Milo Academy owns and operates a surface water treatment plant and distribution system that supplies water to homes, a boarding school, a church and a business. After a recent sanitary survey by the Oregon Health Department Drinking Water Program the academy became aware of several deficiencies in their water system that they needed assistance to correct. They also have experienced high HAA5 levels and requested assistance to correct this problem. They have also switched to aluminum chlorohydrate as their primary coagulant and are experiencing some problems with the changeover. On Feb. 6 I contacted Kelly Kolstaad, contract DRC operator for the system. He put me in touch with Jeff Miller, Milo Academy maintenance and operations manager, to work on the request. I was also able to contact Mr. Miller on the 6th. We were able to arrive at a plan of action and scheduled a follow-up appointment when I had some materials for him. One of the items they requested assistance with was a cross connection enabling authority. I contacted Mr. Miller on the 14th by phone and we went over the preparation of the enabling authority document. Another item they requested was help with preparation of an O and M manual. I located a sample O and M manual outline and tailored the outline to the operation at the academy water plant. I visited the site on the 19th and delivered the outlines I had prepared. We also spent time in the plant looking at possible solutions to the coagulant problems and researching the high HAA5 test results. ACTION NEEDED: Mr. Miller is going to flesh out the O and M manual and would like a review of his manual when he is done. I have been researching the HAA5 problem and will schedule a follow up visit with Mr. Miller. |
