Details: | SUMMARY: DRC leaving system requested review and recommendations DETAILS: HBH Consulting Engineers Inc., representing ODHS-DWP circuit rider program, received call from Mike Donovan, DRC for the Amigo Villa system for the past few years. Family circumstance requiring him to relocate. Concerned for the system and the subdivisions 36 services, Mike requested the circuit rider program review system for options and recommendations on how management of system should be accomplished in his absence. I met with Mike. He discussed his history with the system. He is an experienced certified treatment plant operator having worked as an operator at the municipal level for many years. He has been in the private sector recently as owner-operator of EMA Marketing, supplier of water and wastewater equipment/supplies. He has been the primary operator of record for Amigo Villa system. Preparation for Mikes relocation has required that a number of the residents become familiar with the system to the extent that some of the daily tasks could be accomplished by others in Mikes absence. System relies on Stutzman Services, a local contractor, for emergency repairs for the distribution and operations aspects of the system. For Mike the more pressing issue requiring review and recommendations is water quality issues. Ground water pumped from the Amigo Villas 200 well exceeds the secondary MCLs for iron and manganese. A number of residents in subdivision have water softening equipment that does little to mitigate the problems of staining and aesthetics caused by excessive levels of iron and manganese. We toured the well site, 40,000 gallon storage tank and basic distribution system with its two primary mains and meter service taps. ACTION NEEDED: Develop review and recommendations to mitigate high levels of iron and manganese for Amigo Villa WSD with the subdivisions available resources. |
