Details: | SUMMARY: Funding application assistance DETAILS: HBH Consulting Engineers Inc., representing the ODHS-DWP circuit rider program received a call from the administrative assistant of the Mt. Terrace MHP owner requesting assistance with the application for a protection grant. I made a couple of calls to the Drinking Water Program to get an understanding of what was available through the SRF in the way of protection grants. I was told that yes, applications for 2008 grant funds are now being received. Low-interest loan moneys were being made available in $20,000.00 grants. I met with the MHP owner and park manager to review the site and discuss their plans for the park. The basis of their request was centered on the placement of cement slabs with enclosures around two well heads, a 14 x 18 building to enclose a chlorination system, above-ground isolation valves, small office, and rest room. The site is located next to the chlorine contact tanks. The owner has previously been approved for a low-interest loan. The park has been making numerous improvements since being purchased by the current owner and management. Prior to recent years, the park was run down and a continual source of violations and orders by the county and Drinking Water Programs. I attended training on the 28th and had an opportunity to speak with Tom Pattee regarding what qualifies a project for consideration in the allocation of the protection grant project and according to Tom the project has to do something to protect the aquifer. Tom indicated a recent discussion regarding a similar project was rejected. I will relate to the owner my discussion with Tom and take what action he requests. ACTION NEEDED: Continue communication and availability in the event our services are required for technical assistance with the parks water system. |
