Details: | SUMMARY: Outbreak response #2 DETAILS: … contd from #1. The maintenance guy who used to do that isnt working this summer, but they thought they did it the same way. We could not tell if the chlorinator pump was working, as the well pumps did not kick on when we were there. The chlorinator was replaced approximately a year ago. Rather than get chlorine in the system themselves, they were going to have a guy from Precision Pump come out and help them. They are currently using bottled water for drinking, and want to take a conservative approach, so they want to shock the system by pouring chlorine into the tanks, getting it into the lines, and flushing. 5 coliform samples were taken: from the outdoor hose bib at the pump building (not a great tap), the pool (marked special), the hose bib at the boys dorm (good tap), the laundry sink in the food prep building (good tap), and the cold tap inside the dorm (special). There was some discussion amongst the lab personnel whether to just test for total / fecal coliform or to test for other things, but it was decided to just test for total / fecal coliform. Stool samples were also delivered to the PHL from people at the camp. |
