Details: | SUMMARY: Boil Water Notice for E. coli routine positive followed by TC-positive repeat DETAILS: The TC+ repeat that followed an E.coli positive from a routine sample in the office break room put Dayton on a boil notice. Dayton notified Lafayette. Lafayette requested separation from the system. (Lafayette is running their auxiliary wells for the time being.) ACTION NEEDED: Notify Lafayette or turn off discharge pump to Lafayette Distribute Tier 1 Boil Notice with FAQ Test all raw sample ports from the sources (Label them "Specials") Increase chlorine residual to a minimum of 0.5 ppm Flush the system Assess where any leaks may be and if they can identify & isolate where these potential contamination points are SAMPLE STRATEGICALLY (Label them "Specials") after sampling sources, sample the WTP discharge, sample the influent & effluent of reservoirs, booster stations, etc. Try to isolate the contamination source (ultimate goal!) Once they are confident their sampling reflects no more contamination, take 4 "Routine" coliform samples Present the (negative) results to Gary or Pete and discuss potentially lifting the boil notice Lastly, 1 week from now, have a "Lessons Learned" meeting (maybe with Lafayette, too) to sketch out this protocol in detail and insert it into their ERP. |
