Details: | SUMMARY: Technical Report "Water system evaluation and recommendations" DETAILS: They requested assistance with several issues. Erratic chorine residuals from ND to >2.0mpg, The electrical controls are 30 years old and have been temporarily rigged to work on manual control for pump control from the well filling the reservoir. Overflows from the reservoir have occurred. The probes in the reservoir are malfunctioning. The reservoir needs internal inspection and cleaning due to elevated levels of iron and manganese that is not removed after oxidation by chlorine. The reservoir drain valve is frozen shut. The well does not have static water level measurement capability or a flow meter. The pumping level drops in the summer time and a flow valve restriction is used to limit yield to 8 gpm in order to avoid over pumping the well. I discussed the purpose for chlorination and it was drawn up on the original water system, plan from the mid 1970s. Karen Kelley, DWP has authorized the water system to collect monthly raw water samples for one year to determine if disinfection is needed. I prepared a technical report addressing the concerns and issues regarding the water system and sent it to the board for review and discussion at the annual meeting September 15. ACTION NEEDED: Terry Nelson will come to inspect electrical controls and make recommendations. No other follow-up from me at this tome unless requested from the water system. |
