Details: | SUMMARY: Booster station ran out of chlorine causing drop in residuals DETAILS: Gary McLauchlin called to report that the chlorine booster station located at the effluent side of Reservoir 2 ran out of chlorine at 4 am on 05/08/08. Since this was a booster station, this event did not affect CT. I told him that, other than starting up the booster station, no further action was needed as long as not more than 5% of daily distribution chlorine sampling failed to demonstrate a detectable chlorine residual each month for two consecutive months (May and June 2008) per OAR 333-061-0032(5)(c). In the event that residuals were not detected in more than 5% of the samples each month for May and June, a Tier 2 public notice would be required. ACTION NEEDED: Resume disinfection at the booster station, monitor chlorine residuals. No further action needed at this time, however, a Tier 2 public notice may be required depending upon the results of chlorine monitoring in May and June 2008 - see details above regarding the requirements in OAR 333-061-0032(5)(c). |
