Details: | SUMMARY: Concerns about water quality DETAILS: Referral from DEQ. Water source is Panther Creek via Salmon River. On 6/16/08 she noticed the water was colored dark brown, smelled and tasted bad. The home has a point of entry Ace filtration system, and a Multi-Pure POU filter on the kitchen tap. Following change in water characteristics, they changed the filter in the Ace system and contacted the mfg for assistance. Within 10 days, same conditions returned. She discussed her concerns with both Bette Carter at Salmon River and W. Martin Klinger at Panther Creek. No issues identified on water system side. Susan checked with neighbors but no problems noted. Discussed likelyhood that their filtration system(s) may be the problem, and should be the first area to investigate. Options and ideas outlined for Susan: 1) Bypass filtration system, flush out system as good as possible and observe water quality. 2) Do full maintenance on home filtration system. 3) Check for free chlorine residual at the home and discuss with Martin if absent. 4) Continue to discuss observations with neighbors to see if problem is isolated. 5) Continue to make the PWS aware of your observations and concerns. 6) Contact the Springfield office of the DWP if no PWS response or problem persists. ACTION NEEDED: Resident will investigate their filtration system, work with PWS, and contact DWP for follow-up as needed. |
