Details: | SUMMARY: Repeat Total Coliform Detections DETAILS: Charmayne phoned back to say that of the four repeat samples taken on 7-23-08, one came back positive. She was displeased because there was still only one person taking the samples for these repeats. With the need to actively be pumping the hand pump, adequate protection against accidental contamination cannot be assured because that person has to set the lids/bottles down on the ground to run the pump, they cant hold the bottles and lids and run the pump at the same time. So she strongly suspects the positive in this last bunch is still due to sampling technique and accidental contamination. Because they cannot simply remove the pump handle in this case (no other available water source for these people, and it is only positive for TC, not fecal coliform), I advised her to post the Tier 2 Public Notice. I consulted with Amy Parmenter, and informed Charmayne that she must leave the Public Notice in place until they document four clean TC samples. She plans to oversee the next sampling herself on Monday. I also reminded her that another 5 samples will be required in August. ACTION NEEDED: Await results of repeats to be taken on Monday, July 28th..If all four samples are negative, they may remove public notice. If any of these four are positive, they must shock chlorinate. Take five temporary routines in August. |
