Details: | SUMMARY: Routine sample collected on 6/20/08 positive for Total Coliform. DETAILS: 6/24/08 - I spoke with water system operator Ken Underwood. Ken informed me that the chlorine feed pump was broken at the time the sample was collected and there was no residual in the water. They were not aware of the problem when the sample was collected and estimate that the pump had been down for approximately two weeks. I discussed the importance of keeping a daily residual log with Ken and sent him information on an appropriated test kit (they currently use a pool test kit on an infrequent basis to check the residual). Given the nature of this situation four repeat samples will not be collected. The system underwent a moderate shock by another operator unbeknownst to Ken and prior to consulting with us. I instructed Ken to return the chlorine to normal residual levels, wait five days and then collect two routine samples from the normal sample tap. 7/1/08 - Two repeat samples tested negative for Total Coliform. I called Ken and notified him of the results as well as reminded him to monitor the chlorine residual daily. ACTION NEEDED: No additional action will be required at this time. | ||
