| Details: | SUMMARY: Followup for Nitrate 6.2 ppm on 4/4/08 and reported to Linn Co 4/18/08 DETAILS: Mr. Doran states that he has no control over the use of chemicals in the neighboring lot which is owned by OSU and is used for agricultural experimentation. The well is ~50 feet from the OSU property line. He states that he does not fertilize during the winter. I informed Mr. Doran that he needs to monitor for nitrates during the first quarter of the year because that is when nitrates are at their highest historically (quarterlies M/R in 2002 & 2003. I conducted a survey on this date and discovered that Mr. Doran has been using an old fertilizer jug as a container for holding the chlorine prior to injection into the system. I informed him that he would need to provide an NSF approved mixing container for the chlorine in the future. ACTION NEEDED: Change nitrate monitoring period to the first quarter of every year. | ||
