Details: | SUMMARY: Clarify who the proper contact person is DETAILS: On July 23, 2008 I was contacted by Karen Olsen, Broadbent Post Master regarding a letter she received from the state pertaining to the Broadbent Post Office. She stated that she had made earlier contact with at least 2 people in our office regarding the removal of her name (see attached email) as contact for the water system. I did have a conversation with Karen Olsen on March 6, 2008 to update the current water contact info and was informed by Karen that Mr. Ken Rossi was the contact for the water system. I updated the system info and sent a copy to the state at that time. Karen Olsen is still receiving letters and requested that the info please get changed. Karen said per the Broadbent Post Office lease agreement, she didnt believe that the responsibility to take water samples for testing was theirs (Federal Government.) She was going to look into the lease agreement again. She sated that she had no way to sample any water from the system except from the Post Office and that she didnt believe this would give a true result from the main system. After my conversation with Karen I contacted Mr. Rossi to verify that the info Karen gave me. Mr. Rossi stated that he was the person to contact but was not the person responsible to test the water. Mr. Rossi stated that in 1932 the Federal Government requested water testing from hi water for their use. Mr. rossi stated back then that he would not pay for testing on their behalf and the Federal Government agreed to take the samples and pay for it. I have reported this contact information to Ian Stromquist, Coos County Environmental Health Specialist. Ian said he would take further action to investigate the contact report and assess the situation and determine who the responsible party is. ACTION NEEDED: Investigate who the responsible party is. |
