Details: | SUMMARY: Site visit for new well proposal DETAILS: Maureen Taylor with Clatsop County and I met with John and Teresa Jones to discuss iron problems with their existing well and their proposal to drill a new well near the existing concrete reservoir. Hazards near the proposed well site include a septic drain field and land within 100-ft that is not owned by the water system. I provided site information to Tom Pattee and Russ Kazmierczak for input and recommended that John and Teresa contact HBH for technical assistance. ACTION NEEDED: The Drinking Water Program (DWP) is granting a conditional waiver for the proposed construction of a new well within 100 feet of a septic drain field (see attached aerial photo and site map for approximate location of well and septic). The new well will need to be constructed as described in e-mail from Dennis Nelson dated 7/25/08. If samples collected from the new well exceed the MCL for nitrate or coliform, the well may need to be reconstructed or treatment will need to be installed. Also, the area within 100 feet of the well shall be owned by the water supplier, or a perpetual restrictive easement shall be obtained by the supplier for all land (with the exception of public rights-of-way) within 100 feet of the well. The easement shall be recorded with Clatsop County along with a the recorded deed to the property. |
