Details: | SUMMARY: Tetrachloroethylene Detects in Distribution 11/7/2008. DETAILS: Jim contact me on 11/12/2008 regarding a detection of tetrachloroethylene (PCE) in the distribution system. Two distribution samples were collected for compliance with Stage 2 DBPR, however, the lab analyzed the samples for other contaminants at the same time. As a result, a detect of PCE was found at a locations in N. Albany. The result was 0.0076 mg/L and was above the MCL of 0.0050 mg/L. The other sample was ND for PCE. Jim is not sure what would cause this detect, however, he suspects some builders may have used a cleaning agent on valves installed in a new development nearby. In the meantime, while these samples are not required by the SDWA (only EP samples required), quarterly samples are needed to determine compliance with MCLs and public notice requirements. Jim is collecting confirmation samples and will notify us of the results. ACTION NEEDED: Await results of quarterly monitoring and confirmation samples. Public notice and CCR notification requirements will be based on those results. |
