| Details: | SUMMARY: main break-public notice DETAILS: Chuck Bodine called this morning to report a 12 inch main break occurred at 2:30 am 4/29/09. The break occurred near barber and south shasta loop in south east Eugene. The leak was approximately 5,000 gpm and nearly drained the Dillard 800 reservoir. Approximately 25 residences are without water now. EWEB notified 171 customers via door-to-door and news press release. A do not drink the water notice is now in effect for this area until water test results indicate the water is safe. They are repairing the break now and plan to send a slug of chlorine through the lines to disinfect the lines in the area. Chuck said it will probably be another day before getting the results back and removing the public notice. ACTION NEEDED: post public notice for affected area, fix leak, disinfect lines, flush, test for bacteria, remove notice when results indicate water is safe to drink and pressure is above 20 psi. | ||
