Details: | SUMMARY: Fluoride Saturator and Significant Deficiency Questions DETAILS: Gary called about Stage 2 IDSE monitoring (see second May 19 contact report) and we discussed an a couple of issues related to the December 2008 survey. I explained that the survey should be completed and mailed soon and that they would have 45 days from the date of the letter (not the date of the survey) to submit a plan on how those deficiencies were to be resolved. The second issue was variable results of fluoride saturator levels received from the lab. I e-mailed Kip Duchon at the CDC about the issue and he indicated that the the peak saturation flouride ion concentration would be limited to 18,000 ppm and that results higher than this or that had high variability were either due to chemical intereference or more likely due to improper dilutions during analysis (Standard Method 4500F-C). I e-mailed Gary the e-mail that I got from Kip Duchon and some info on fluoride saturators and said that I would provide information to our lab certification people (Michelle Van Kleeck) to look into the matter with the lab method. ACTION NEEDED: DWP to investigate lab methodology for fluoride analysis. |
