Details: | SUMMARY: GAC Activation for Pentachlorophenol in Weyerhaeuser Wells DETAILS: SUB and Rainbow WD installed Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) treatment for their shared seasonal Weyerhaeuser Wellfield in 1996 because monitoring wells were showing pentachlorophenol detects from historic Weyerhaeuser practices-- however, the GAC was not activated at that time. Trace amounts (less than MCL) started to show up in the drinking water wells, but not at the entry point, in summer 2007 and the wellfield was shut off for the season. The GAC was activated in June 2008. A plan review site inspection was completed on July 10, 2008 by me and Fred Kalish. They were required to test the entry point for pentachlorophenol monthly during the 2008 season (June - Sept), and the results were non-detect. They are now required to test the entry point annually. See notes in file for more details. ACTION NEEDED: Monitor pentachlorophenol annually at the Weyerhaeuser Wellfield entry point. |
