Details: | SUMMARY: Tracer Study Preliminary Visit DETAILS: System has recently activated a new membrane WTP using the Long Tom River as a source. The previous source was ground water. The DWP is requiring a chlorine contact time tracer study. An effluent flow meter is installed after the clearwell-- however the 1 MG reservoir does not have an effluent flow meter. I met with Dave to conduct a pre tracer study inspection to verify what equipment was installed, chlorine injection system, sample taps, computer tracking/recording capabilities, etc. I reviewed the clearwell construction plan, as it is baffled. The WTP typically operates at 245 GPM at temperatures 4-14 C and 350 gpm at >15C. I decided to wait until raw water temps exceed 15 C to conduct the study at full operating capacity. Chlorine dosing will require conversion from mi/min to mg/l in order to determine T10. Current dosage is 20 ml/min by drawdown tube for a 1.1-1.2 mgl residual. Chlorine is gravity fed from the old WTP building using exciting equipment (poor design IMG) and dumped into clearwell near raw water intake for mixing. ACTION NEEDED: Contact Tracer Study |
