Details: | SUMMARY: Inquiry about switching from surface water to emergency well DETAILS: Dave called to ask what would be involved in switching back to the Seagull Well as the drinking water source. Their property is for sale, and it would be more attractive to a buyer with a simpler drinking water system. If no longer surface-water based, they could stop the filtration, and possibly the chlorination (depending on coliform results from the well water). I told him his testing schedule for a groundwater system would be quarterly coliform tests, and an annual nitrate test. Before the switch, he would need to take nitrate and coliform samples from the well itself (source samples). He said he would also shock chlorinate the well, as it has not been used in some time. I referred Dave to Fred Kalish for what plan review process would apply. ACTION NEEDED: If Dave decides to pursue the switch to a groundwater-only system, he will consult with Fred Kalish for plan review guidance. |
