Details: SUMMARY: Arsenic treatment not working as claimed DETAILS: The Arneys called for help with their arsenic treatment system. They were referred to Scott Keiffer at Oregon Institute of Technology for information on commercial arsenic point-of-entry water treatment units. Additionally, the importance of source arsenic valence state and water pH were highlighted. The system has pre-chlorination for oxidation. ACTION NEEDED: Consider having the water analyzed for the respective arsenic III and V valence state concentrations as a potential indicator of need for more effective oxidation. Consider trying weekly backwash, as recommended by the vendor, to see if arsenic concentrations drop.
