Details: | SUMMARY: Well water supply problems/System consolidation DETAILS: Whispering Pines Estates is a small community Water System located within the City of shady Cove. The system is a groundwater system supplying 70 people through 21 connections. The primary source of water for the system is a well. HBH was contacted by Roy Stewart to assist the system with possible consolidation of several water systems in North Shady Cove. The City of Shady Cove has no public water system. Rather, residents and businesses are served wither through small water systems or on private wells. The water systems in North Shady Cove have experienced many problems with quantity and quality. The well at Whispering Pines Estates has “run dry” a few times causing the water system to have water hauled in. A surface water treatment plant is being completed by Premier West Bank as part of a bankrupt development that included Shady Cove Water Works. An intake on the Rogue River and some piping is already complete. The bank is exploring it options regarding the future of the water system. Scott Curry with DWP recommended that the small community water systems contact HBH for assistance with this possible consolidation. I discussed systems well issues with Mr Stuart. I attended a meeting between several water systems and other interested parties. Topics of discussion included possible financing options, water system planning and water system structure. ACTION NEEDED: HBH to provide additional assistance with the exploration of consolidation. |
