Details: | SUMMARY: water quality complaint DETAILS: The Health Division received a complaint by e-mail from a citizen that said he filled his thermos at the service station in Monroe, that the water was bad, and asked that the office order Monroe to install a new water filtration system. I spoke with Jeff and David with CH2M Hill/OMI, which operates the Monroe water system, which installed a new membrane filtration system in February, and they said there had been no other complaints but that they would check the chlorine residuals, which they did and were normal. Gail Shibley sent a letter to the complainant addressing his concerns (see 8/10/09 letter in file) and asking for more information about the location and description of the water. The complainant responded that it was the service station on the east side of Main St., but the only description of the water was that it was "bad". I spoke with David again and he checked the chlorine residual at the tap at the service station, which is an outside tap about a foot off the ground, and he said the water was clear and the chlorine residual normal (0.13 mg/L). I advised him to take a special coliform sample too, but he said hed have to check with his supervisor who was on vacation, so he didnt take a sample that week. I e-mailed the complainant on 8/21/09 and told him he could call me for more information, but I didnt receive a response. ACTION NEEDED: Await response from complainant. |
