Details: | SUMMARY: Total coliform positives DETAILS: I assisted Scott Kruger with this repeat alert because hes is out for a couple days. The system had a routine total coliform positive on 1/12/10 at 6735 SW Janet Way. Of the four repeats taken on the 18th, one was total coliform positive (the original routine site, the well, and one other site were negative)-- however, the repeat positive was accidentally taken with the aerator on, so another sample was taken at that same sink with the aerator removed, and that sample was negative. I told Frances that we can not invalidate the sample based on this, so Tier 2 public notice is still required within 30 days. But, given the fact that both positive sites were resampled and came back negative, I told Frances she didnt have to shock chlorinate the system but she should take the 5 follow-up routines the first week of February, although I gave her the choice to shock chlorinate if shed feel better about that and she said it would be difficult because the one resident who would be willing to climb to the top of the 20,000-gal storage tank is out of town until mid-February and her neighbors didnt like it the last time the system was chlorinated. I told Frances she should call Scott Kruger with the results of the early February follow-up routines and that someone should look in the storage tank soon because the last time there were several total coliform positives (2006), it took a cleaning of the storage tank and a couple of shock chlorinations to get good results. Frances said she will issue the public notice after receiving the results of the February testing, but within the 30-day required timeline. ACTION NEEDED: Await 5 temporary routine sample results the first week of February. | ||
