| Details: | SUMMARY: Source sample from one well TC+ DETAILS: Mr. Torgeson called because he had received notification from the laboratory that one of the source samples for March was total coliform positive. The system is doing the one year assessment monitoring and source samples from each of the 2 wells have been negative for total coliform in January and February. He asked if he had to take further action at this time and I said no, since the sample was negative for fecal/E.coli. I explained that the monthly source samples would be evaluated after 12 months sampling, and total coliform may be an issue if it occurred frequently, or if there are problems with well construction. The system has chlorination treatment and pumps to storage prior to entering the distribution system, therefore there is significant contact time. We also reviewed sample collection procedures, and he had done the sampling in a good manner, except he changed the flow at the tap just before sampling. Since it is recommended to not disturb the tap flow prior to sampling, that may have influenced the sample result. ACTION NEEDED: None | ||
