Details: | SUMMARY: Discussed water system operation DETAILS: Mr. Rinkel has been the maintenance operator for about a year. He had constructed the building around the water system facilities, including the well, chlorinator, and storage tanks. He had maintained a chlorine residual of 0.5-1.0 mg/l as instructed by the equipment supplier Eco Water from Ontario. Mrs. Kim Lee has now taken over the chlorine measurements for some reason. He said the water system is now supplied by an "old well", but a well driller had done a flow test and found it produced ~28 gpm. Whatever the actual flow is, he said the system has worked well since he has been there. But, currently just the motel and mini mart are open, not the restaurant and the motel is not very busy so there is not much water demand. There are several broken pipes in the restaurant, so it will take some work to make repairs so the restaurant can be re-opened. Mr. Rinkel wasnt sure if there is a raw water sample tap at the well so that source water bacteria quality can be checked. ACTION NEEDED: Burnett of DWP, and Eric Evans of Malheur County to inspect water system facilities the week of April 26, 2010. |
