| Details: | SUMMARY: Corrosion issues in WTP Building DETAILS: The City recently constructed a new membrane water treatment plant. Metallic parts within the WTP building have been showing an inordinate amount of corrosion. This includes all metallic surfaces, including aluminum, stainless steel and brass. HBH was contacted by Mr Benthin to see if this is something that we had seen before in membrane plants. Visited water treatment plant to inspect the corrosion issues, as well as look at the current ventilation system in the building and storage of the chemicals that could possibly be caused the corrosion issues. Discussed measures that had been taken by the City to attempt to limit the corrosion. I reviewed treatment plant chemicals and potential reaction. I contacted membrane treatment plant manufacturer to determine of this was an occurrence that they had seen. Made recommendations to City to maintain proper ventilation of treatment plant building. ACTION NEEDED: Provide further investigation if requested. | ||
