Details: | SUMMARY: Complaint about Arsenic & taste/odor of water supply DETAILS: Mr. Parker called to complain about water quality at the MHP, specifically Arsenic & taste/odor. He had tests done through Lindsey Eco-Water which indicated Arsenic at 30 ppb. I indicated that compliance for Arsenic standard is based on running annual average of sample results from a certified lab, and the 2/2010 sample at 16 ppb was the only sample in the past year that exceeded the MCL. (RAA ~9.7 ppb). Mr. Parker and apparently several other MHP residents are buying bottled water, and I indicated that was probably the best alternative for now. Mr. Walt Longtin, owner of the MHP is planning to put in a point of use RO treatment unit at one residence to do a pilot test. He has also taken another Arsenic test in May. I reviewed the Arsenic health effects language with Mr. Parker, and explained that the MCL standard is based on long term use. I also explained that if the Arsenic MCL is exceeded, the state would issue an Administrative Order to fix the violation, but that it would take some time (and considerable expense) to complete the installation of treatment units at all mobile homes. ACTION NEEDED: DWP to review results of May Arsenic sample when available. |
