| Details: | SUMMARY: Discussed coliform sampling DETAILS: Duane called seeking information following a report from Nielsen Labs about a coliform result. Duane said he recently changed the chlorinator the system uses, and collected a sample in the last few days. He said the lab called and told him to collect repeat samples ASAP. Duane didnt think he could collect samples until next Monday (7/12/10) when the residual chlorine would have reached all parts of his distribution system. I do not see that DWP has any July results for the system yet, and if a positive sample was collected this week, then repeat samples collected Monday would be acceptable to the program. If the system regularly chlorinates, then allowing the chlorinator to be working properly also seems more representative of the water being served to users and appropriate for repeats. It may be possible that Nielsen was recommending additonal samples to verify the chlorinator is working properly, and not as a result of a positive routine sample. ACTION NEEDED: Await July sample results. | ||
