Details: | SUMMARY: Tier One Boil Water Notice Issued DETAILS: On 07/07/10 an E. coli positive routine distribution sample was collected at Space #32. The positive distribution sample likely occurred as a result of a failure in the continuous chlorination system two days prior to the sample collection. The chlorination system is now back online and the operator has been instructed to wait until the chlorine residual returns to a normal level to collect representative repeat samples on Monday 07/12/10. The sitiuation is complicated by the fact that one of the two monthly source assessment samples collected at the same time as the routine distribution sample tested E. coli positive (Well #2). Well #1 tested Total Coliform positive only. The residents of Cobblestone Mobile Home Park were served unchlorinated water from a suspected E. coli positive source (unconfirmed) for a period of approximately two days. Furthermore, the operator spiked the residual above 4.0 ppm (MRDL) and it is currently still above 4.0 ppm. The system has issued a dont-drink notice (verbally door-to-door) until flushing brings the residual below 4.0 ppm and will then be issuing a boil notice until we have results from both the distribution repeat samples and the five Well #2 confirmation samples and can further assess the appropriate corrective action. ACTION NEEDED: Repeat samples need to be collected in the distribution on 07/12/10 and confirmation samples at Well #2 as soon as possible. |
