Details: | SUMMARY: Malfunction of data logger during the night DETAILS: Tim called to report that at approx. 10 pm last night, the WTP data logger malfunctioned (went offline) when there were no operators at the WTP. The WTP automatically begins operation when triggered by low water level in their storage reservoir, and likely was operating between 10 pm Thursday night and 9:45 am Friday morning when the malfunction was discovered. Although the data logger was not operational during this period, the water quality of the plant was monitored for Cl residual and finished water NTU by the alarm/shutdown surveilance system. The system is set to a max 0.3 NTU, min Cl residual of 0.4 ppm and max Cl residual of 2.5 ppm. Throughout the night, this system was operational and did not shutdown the plant (irreversibly trips off), therefore, the turbidity never exceeded 0.3 NTU throughout the night. Tim wanted to know how or what to enter into their monthly WQ monitoring sheets for this period. After consultation with Tech Staff in PDX, it was decided that they should enter in 0.3 NTU at their 4 hour intervals with an asterisk - and attached an expanatory cover letter with their monthly sheet describing the incident. ACTION NEEDED: None at this time. |
