Details: | SUMMARY: Follow-up on E Coli + DETAILS: Spoke with Ed Barlow regarding status of disinfection system at facility. Ed reported that when original sample was collected (Delta Labs), they indicated that the Cl residual was 0.02 ppm. Ed indicated that the storage tank is a very old and very leaky concrete tank. It is unclear how low the operational water level in the tank is, or what the capacity of the booster pump on the outflow of the tank is, so even a rough calculation of contact time is unlikely to yield meaningful data. As a cautionary note (without confirmation of the E Coli) I suggested that Ed notify residents of the park to only drink bottled water or boiled water over the weekend. When repeat samples come in either Monday or Tuesday, if the E Coli is confirmed then serious attention should be paid to the disinfection system at the park to ensure adequate Cl residual and sufficient contact time. Based on Eds description of the tank, it likely needs to be replaced ASAP. ACTION NEEDED: Zach at Lane County (682-4436) will call Casey Monday morning - he will take a trip out to facility to look at tank. | ||
