Details: | SUMMARY: Arsenic Removal DETAILS: System operates 3 wells, l primary and two backup wells. The primary well feeds two pressure tanks. The larger of the two tanks is located on the far side of the system and is back fed through the system. The existing distribution system us in poor condition with many leaks. Mr Brown contacted HBH for general assistance with leak detection and funding assistance with the new MCL set by the EPA on arsenic. System is no longer meeting the requirement. During the last round of testing, the arsenic level was found to be 0.02mgl, which is beyond the limit of 0.01 mgl. Mr Brown requested help with the process of treating arsenic. I developed potential arsenic removal scenarios using “Arsenic Treatment Technology Evaluation Handbook for Small Systems” and the Web-based Arsenic Tradeshow Decision Making Tree, both by EPA. I contacted treatment system representatives for preliminary pricing. I discussed and evaluated Point of Use as an option for the community. ACTION NEEDED: Complete recommendation report. |
