Details: | SUMMARY: Ecoli positive alert response DETAILS: Sherri from Box R lab called to let state know that both the untreated assessment sample and the routine treated sample collected 1/5/11 positive for Ecoli. A chlorine residual of 1mg/l was written down on the lab slip for the treated sample. Met Roberto on site slong with Amy Baker. The old chlorinator had recently been replaced with a Stenner model 85mph17 17 GPD positive displacement pump. The section of tubing that comes in contact with the roller had failed twice so far, but appeared to be working fine at the time of the site visit. Tested for chlorine residual and there was none detectable at the tap after the contact tanks. Chlorine solution itself did show chlorine present with the test kit. Chlorinator was plugged into an outlet that allowed it to run 24/7 instead of turning on and off with the well pump. Advised Roberto the wiring would need to be corrected and a chlorine residual reestablished in the system. Checked for a residual in the western supply store served by the system and none was detected. Advised the store manager about the boil notice. Returned to office. Mailed Roberto both the english and spanish versions of the boil notice template for distribution. Left a voice message and emailed the system owner. Laurie Stewart, summarizing the situation. ACTION NEEDED: System to distribute boil notice collect repeat and confirmation samples on Monday 1/10 | ||
