Details: | SUMMARY: Precautionary Boil Notice - Low Pressure DETAILS: Approx 660 services (1,740 people) outside of Astoria’s city limits were on a precautionary boil water notice for loss of pressure, beginning at 9 PM 1/11/11 and lasting until the morning of 1/14/11. The notice was issued as part of a scheduled waterline replacement as part of the Bear Creek Dam Waterline Project near Svensen. Notice was issued for Burnside Water Association (00054), Fernhill Community Water System (00059), John Day Water District (00060), Olney-Waluski Water Association (00057), and Willowdale Water District (00058). Notification was coordinated at a meeting with the water systems, local fire departments, and Evan Hofeld with DHS-DWP on 12/28/10. Burnside worked with the City and DHS to develop articles for the Daily Astorian (published 1/7/11, 1/14/11, and 1/17/11) and announcements made on two local radio stations. Each of the districts also notified customers through direct delivery. Burnside also employed the use of reverse 911 calls. The segment of waterline was replaced as planned and follow-up sampling on 1/12/11 and 1/13/11 demonstrated an absence of coliform bacteria, signaling the end of the boil notice on 1/14/11. ACTION NEEDED: No further action needed. |
