| Details: | SUMMARY: Positive coliform DETAILS: Received call 11 AM from Edan regarding system. He reports positive coliform sample taken Wednesday from the assessment sample site located between the spring box and the collection box. He wanted to know if he had to issue public notice. I said I would check with the state on what the requirements were. I knew he did not need to issue public notice for a routine sample until a repeat sample also was positive and so far all routine samples have been clear, chlorinated sample water. The assessment sample was for raw water piped to the fish hatchery and he was concerned because the personnel may be using the water as drinking water. Edan said no repeat samples could be taken until Monday. Contacted Michelle Byrd. She said no repeat sampling required unless fecal or Ecoli found and not public notice needed. She recommended that additional sample may provide additional information on water quality. She also recommended he notify the hatchery of the positive sample. They may have to be evaluated if water is being used for human consumption. Called Edan back and gave him information. He said the hatchery already received their own system number. Michelle will also give him a call in case he had any additional questions. ACTION NEEDED: none | ||
