Details: | SUMMARY: Review of Chlorination System DETAILS: HBH was contacted by Mr Sanger with the system because of his concern regarding his chlorination system on the system’s well. The system is a mobile home park with a population of 260 people and 132 connections. The system consists of a single well. Water from the well is chlorinated for residual. The water passes through a pressurized “contact tank”. There are also bladder pressure tanks which maintain system pressure. Mr Sanger was concerned that the chlorine contact time was adequate. In addition, he wanted HBH to review the general installation of the system. HBH visited the water system to review the layout of the system and discussed requirements of the Ground Water Rule(GWR) in regard to source water testing for e coli and subsequent disinfection contact times required to meet 4-log treatment of viruses. Mr Sanger reported no positive e coli in the source water. HBH visibly inspected the method for starting and stopping the chemical feed pump, which appears to be appropriate. ACTION NEEDED: Provide contact tracer testing if it is determined that 4-log treatment of viruses is necessary under GWR. |
