Details: SUMMARY: follow up to arsenic violations (MCL and reporting) and operation DETAILS: Bill and Amy spoke with Terry regarding the current arsenic violations for the city. Vale has been on a quarterly monitoring schdule, however, only a 2nd quarter sample has been collected so far in 2011. The current running annual average is 0.011 for arsenic. The system is required to post a public notice for the MCL violation. As there is no 3rd quarter sample, there will be another MCL violation for 3rd quarter. Terry will be collecting all water samples the week of Oct. 10th. Other chems recommended: Nitrate, Nitrite, SOC, VOC, Arsenic. It was recommended that the public notice be distributed after the result from the arsenic comes in. That way current information can be included in the notice. The system was chemical washing the arsenic treatment filters today (10/5). They also have an arsenic field test kit. ACTION NEEDED: DWP to send draft public notice for arsenic. Water system to take samples week of Oct. 10th and complete public notice after results are received. A copy of the public notice is to be sent to DWP.
