Details: | SUMMARY: Transition to new filters being on-line DETAILS: Patricio called to discuss the procedure for restoring potable water service to the system after the new Strainrite bag filters were installed recently. Unfiltered water was sent to the vehicle shop sinks earlier when the old filters were disconnected, and prior to the new filters being brought on-line. The connection to vehicle shop was turned off, see earlier contact report. I indicated Meadows should follow treatment interruption BMP to restore potable service. System has verified that turbidities are acceptable after new filters. Patricio asked about what chlorine residual to target at first user to ensure adequate disinfection. I referred to earlier levels where 1 ppm chlorine residual at first user was adequate for CTs. ACTION NEEDED: Meadows to increase disinfection levels until chlorine residual is at 1 ppm at first user. System to then flush lines to move any untreated water out of distribution, and ensure an adequate chlorine residual in the distribution, per the BMPs. System to take a coliform sample afterward and discuss restoring access to potable water at the system with DWP after results come in. DWP to provide support to system to ensure safe access to filtered, disinfected water. |
