Details: | SUMMARY: Two of five temporary routine distribution samples are positive DETAILS: Spoke to Shannon and Kevin from Water Techs about the current test results. I instructed Shannon to take a new source sample and resubmit her public notice(PN) with current dates. She did send the PN which was forwarded to the state. The two positive test results came from inside the tavern from plastic type faucets similar to ones you would fine in an RV. This could be the issue. Shannon stated she would look into replacing the faucets with a metal non swivel type. There are three connections on the system. The tavern with attached residence and two manufactured homes. One of the homes is occupied by the previous tavern owner Ken Sullivan. He does not feel they system is being effectively flushed with chlorine when it is shocked. I spoke to Mr. Sullivan on two occasions as well as the person occupying the other manufactured home. I gave them information to look up the system in data online. I requested they meet with Shannon to discuss their concerns and come to some resolution. I also spoke to Jay MacPherson in the Springfield office to see if there was anything I was missing. He suggested that after shock chlorinating they should take a special source sample to insure it worked. I have been suggesting they take a special distribution sample after shock chlorinating. The well has tested positive on the last two tests. The residents have requested they be allowed to shock chlorinate and flush the system one more time to insure it is being done correctly. We also spoke about the possibility of the system needing to be chlorinated or have UV installed if the source tests positive again. ACTION NEEDED: Wait for results of a triggered source sample to be submitted this week. Work with operators and the state to get this issue resolved. | ||
